I Have a Big Girl House, Sort of...

I love, love, love my house! The first time I saw I knew it would be perfect for our family! It was in great shape when we bought it...it just needed a little 'FUN'!!!  When we moved in I knew I wanted to decorate 'kids appropriate',  after all three of them live here.

We have taken on one project at a time, and as each one is completed I feel more and more at home!  So I've taken a few before and afters...

Before:  This is our cute little front porch.  I can't wait to get a swing or two!

After:
We painted our front door.  Doesn't it look more inviting!

Dining Room Before...

Dining Room After...
My kids inspired the "Amen, Amen, Amen" painting.  They are always singing that when we sit down for a meal.  I think somewhere along the way they heard it from me...it brings back some memories from UMY.
And thanks to my dad he made us the awesome wooden table top. I LOVE it!
Did you notice the chandler?  We spray painted that little beauty, and found the little shades on clearance at Lowe's...I love it when I stumble on a good deal!

This little black serving piece in the corner used to be Tate's changing table.  You would have never known, huh?!?

Entry Before...

Entry After:
I love that cute little green dresser with the red knobs. It was a great find in Abilene.
The map is from IKEA (my new tri-monthly visit)!

This cute little table is used for the kids art table.  All three of them love it and spend a lot of time here.  Which explains all the art I have displayed all over the house :)

This chalk board is just to the right when you walk in the front door. I found it at a garage sale a couple years ago.  It was a mirror that I just flipped around and painted chalk board paint on.
It has been used for football schedules, to-do lists, favorite sayings, calendar, and just a place to scribble.

This was at Christmas...so fun!

Kitchen Before:
I can't believe this is the only before picture I have but you can get an idea.

Kitchen After:
Isn't it AWESOME!!  This is my new favorite room in the house! All we have to do is add some pulls that we are going to get from IKEA.

Ok, now for this craziness!
I don't have a before of this table, but it was just an antique distressed white.
I knew once my cabinets were painted I wanted to paint this table top red for some fun color in the breakfast nook.  However, with some inspiration from Roxanne, who is always up for fun projects...this happened...
Aaron's old football number was 17.  Parker wears it now. We also have many family birthdays that land on 17.  So, it has become our lucky number around here.
I don't know if you can tell by this picture but we randomly painted some 'fun' stuff on the table.
Like...
'I know a girl, she puts the color inside my world' (Lyssa)
'Out of all the little boys in the whole world...how is it possible we got the best ones' (Parker, Tate)
'3262' (part of my grandmothers phone number)
'Quit smacking' (something I'm always saying)
'Eat your veggies' (something else I'm always saying)
'6/30' (our wedding anniversary)
some x's and o's
Isn't it soooo fun!! It is definitely unexpected!

More chalk board paint....I stole the idea from a picture I saw in the Pottery Barn magazine.
It has worked out well...no more scuff marks on the wall from the kids shoes.

Tate and his friend Emme drawing love notes to each other ;)

Living Room Before:

Living Room After:

Just some more fun color added here.  Aaron retiled our fireplace.  I think it made a HUGE difference!
Couch, rug, and painting all came from IKEA.  Such bargains at that store ;)
I still want to add some chevron curtains on all the windows, maybe that will be the next project.

I hope you liked the mini tour of our home!  I'll show you the bedrooms next.
I would love to hear your input!!
Happy Wednesday...

No Boys Allowed

I don't get them often, and honestly I don't want them very often.  However, every once in a while a weekend away with no babies, no husbands, no plans, and no cares can be very refreshing.

So, that's just what we three did last weekend.
(Vanessa, Katie and Me)

I met both of these girls when we moved to Abilene.  I didn't know at the time I was meeting what would become some of my best friends in the whole world.  We have been through five football seasons together, pregnancies, moves, loneliness, happiness, the list is long.  Some of the best memories I have are with these two.

Last weekend we went to Abilene for Katie's first baby shower.  Ahhhh, it was so perfect.  We stuffed our faces, laughed like teenagers, and shopped till we dropped.  Her parents were so awesome to just let us come in and take over their house for the weekend (thanks so much Lisa and Harold)!

I left feeling like my battery was recharged.  Which is a good thing because I have many projects going on this week at my house.  I can't wait to share them!!

Oh, and by the way...are you a Survivor fan?  If not, you should start watching this season.
(Kim, Carter and sister Beth)
(Kim and Lyssa being silly)

Kim Spradlin, daughter of Mike and Roxanne Spadlin, is on the show this season. Coach Spradlin has given our husbands a job for the last five years and Roxanne has taught us so many, many, many things! We love you Roxy!!
Besides the fact it is pretty entertaining to watch, it just gives us another excuse to get together and have dinner!
Happy Wednesday!

I'm a Happy Girl!

I've been slacking in the blogging world lately.  It's mainly because my computer sucked and my internet service sucked even more.  That equals one bad combination!

Not anymore...

I got this baby in the mail last week...

A Mac Book Pro!!!

And even better...I got new internet service today!  It couldn't have come at a better time.  For many reason like work, but also for fun stuff...like the fun girls trip I made last weekend, and my kitchen that is getting repainted, and my babies have started up their spring sports.

So, I've got lots of catching up to do.

But for now, I'll leave you with this sweet picture...

He's Two...

I can't believe it.

My baby is two today.
How can it be he has gone from this...

 to this...

Now to this...

I honestly can't believe his first two years have gone by so fast.  It snuck up on me.

It seems like just the other day we saw your face for the first time and you stole all of our hearts!   Now, you are counting to eleven, singing songs, shooting baskets, and catching footballs.
You are so special to us, big boy!  If we loved you anymore our hearts would explode!!
This past weekend we had a 'tailgate' birthday party before the Superbowl to celebrate.  It was a small family party, but we had a big time!!  A few friends ended up stopping by to say happy birthday.  I love the fact that the Galusha's and Berna's feel like they can stop in and make themselves at home!  They love Tate just as if he was one of their own.

Happy Birthday, boy!  I love you!

My Go to Gal

Everyone has one. Their go to person. She happens to be mine. I don't have a memory that doesn't have her in it.

She loves my kids like they are her own.

She's always there for me...even in the craziest of times.

She gave me an awesome niece.

She has a big heart.

She can dance.

She'll kill herself trying to rescue an animal.

She's a good momma.

She's my friend.

She's my sister.

I love you with all my heart and then some.

I hope you have a happy happy happy birthday!

"I a Cowboy"

Tater moved out and Tex moved in. He got his first cowboy giddy up gear...boots, jeans, pearl snap, belt, hat (which he loves almost as much as he loves his new tractor)!!! He even checks to make sure it has enough diesel.

"I a cowboy"

Cutest cowboy I've ever seen!
